I go to Ipswich Town nearly every Saturday
I have supported Ipswich Town for several years since I was a kid
It has been running since 1878, when they started out as an amateur club, and turned professional in 1936.
Unfortunately they don’t have a very good set-up for the following reasons:
Bad defence because they keep doing things they shouldn’t be doing, like attacking from the back, and swearing;
Bad Goalkeeping because Of Bad Errors including own goals;
Bad Attack; because they Are Ruddy Useless – they under perform and they don’t impress the manager
Bad Right Centre back; because they make a Complete and Utter Fool Of Themselves - they swear at the referee.
Bad Left Centre Back; Because They Get In the Wrong Position.
Poor Attendance Because It has been a low number of crowds this season.
They Are the Worst referees In the Whole Country because they give Too Many Red and Yellow Cards. They also disallow too many goals.
They do have a couple of good points however:
Good Midfield; because they play well - they Score goals - Plenty of them
They Are Exiting to Watch and the crowd act properly.
Overview of the club
They are based at
They need to get a higher number of followers.
They need to archive more in the championship and get better results
This will make the game more exiting and worth watching
The club has been based at portman road since 1884, and in 1888 they merged with Ipswich cricket club to become Ipswich town. For the next 19 years they played on what is now the practices pitch behind the Britannia Stand –They were one of the first clubs to use goal nets in 1890. They didn’t turn professional until 1936; they were then elected to the Football League in 1938 on May 30th in that year.
They First Success was in the 1953-54 season when they won the third division for the first time sir Alf Ramsey was appointed in 1955. they once again won the third division. After this they won second division in 1960-61 season the following year they won the first division – this qualified them for the European cup.
Ramsey left in63-64 season. They were a number of mangers in the 1960s until Sir Bobby Robson was appointed in January 1969. It was under him that they had their famous 1978 FA Cup Win. They Also Won the UEFA Cup In 1981.Bobby Robson Left In 1982 to Become England Manager.
Bobby Ferguson then took Robson’s Place but found the job more difficult and they slipped to second division in 1986 then John Duncan took over in June 1987 but he was then sacked in 1990 for three seasons of mid table positions.
And soon after that John Lyall took over the club in 1990 The Following season they were Second Division Champions and then a whole new chapter began.
It was at this time that the FA Premier League was stared. It was at that time that things were going well for the club by Christmas 1990 there was a possibility that the club would return to Europe.
Two seasons after this john Lyall found the Premier league difficult and resigned just before Christmas 1994. George Burley took over the club but could not save them from going back to first division.
In the 1999-2000 season they beet Barnsley 4-2 in the play off final at Wembley to put them in the top flight of English football. In addition to that the blues qualified for Europe – this was there highest position since the1981-82 season.
In the 2001-02 Season they lost their consistency. They finished third from bottom of the premier league and went back to Division One. The reserves however managed under the leadership of Dale Roberts to win the Barclaycard Premiership Reserve League (South) Championship title. The blues themselves they qualified for Europe by means of ‘The Fair Play Award.’
George Burley left in October 2002. Since then Tony Mowbray took over as caretaker manager in the same month, before Joe Royle took over permanently. At this time they had a lot of financial problems and they went into administration for a while. Royle still tried to improve their division one play-off hopes they finished up facing up another prospect of division one football
At the start of the 03/04 season they brought in lone players and managed to get into the top six. On the last day of the campaign they got into the play offs by drewring 1-1 with Cardiff City. They nearly won a trip to the Millennium Stadium by beating West Ham United 1-0 but then lost 2-0 in the second leg at Upton Park.
The following year West Ham United Once Again Stopped Town from Getting into the Premiership at the semi final stage. Blues had already taken a tumble. In March they led the table by 6 points but on the last day of the campaign they were piped (beaten at the last minute) to the promotion places by losing out to both Sunderland and Wigan for the play offs.
The 2005/2006 Season was made difficult because the new strike force Partnership Nicky Forster and Sam Parkin (who replaced Darren Bent and Shefki Kuqi) Suffered A lot of injurys and Joe Royle had to as many as 10 players on the sidelines because of the amount of time forster and parkin were out of action. This ment that town finished the season in fithteenth place.
After this Joe left the club and Jim Magilton was appointed maneger in 2006 /2007 season he was only the 12th manager of the club. He was also once a captain of the team. He joined the club in 1999 as a midfielder and got promoted to captin in 2003 before leavening the club in 2005. His return as manager in 2006 started a new era for the club. Due to poor performance however he was sacked in April 2009. The way he was sacked was controversial because of the way it was done. They phoned him while he was in
Now Roy Keane has been appointed as the new man in charge- He will bring good experience to the club and he also has good attitude and has fire in his belly! Hopefully he will get us into the premiership with a bit of luck.
