We are parents and carers of children with additional needs.
We all want what's best for our children in their lives, but for some of us parents and carers, getting what's best for our children is a struggle, especially if the child has additional needs. The main problem most parents and carers are facing is education for their child.
A child's education is important, as they are in education for most of their childhood, so every child should matter and so should their education.
The government brought proposals for change, in the green paper, 'Every Child Matters', they want inclusion of these children in to mainstream education, because they think it’s better for them to fit into society, and I think we all would agree we should like this for our children, but for most of these children who have complex- needs this would be unworkable, unless the education system is given the correct funding to carry out these reforms in order to give every child with special-needs, the resource for a chance in mainstream-education
ITS THE GOVERMENT cutting back on this, it's the taxpayer’s money not the government’s so why do you think they are closing special schools down? Because it costs money! Why are they reducing the statutory legal binding document that has all the needs of that child in it and protects that child because it costs money!
They don't have to meet that child’s needs if that child does not have a legal-binding statutory document.
THE GOVERMENT WANT TO PUT THESE CHILDREN INTO MAINSTREAM WITH VERY LITTLE SUPPORT but without the right help and support for that child, it will have a huge impact on other children’s education in mainstream settings.
Some of our children have very complex problems and are unable to cope in mainstream settings without a great-deal of help and support.
Thousands of parents and carers have struggled with this system and will continue to struggle if nothing is changed

The government need to look at this again and give the child and the family what they need if they want inclusion
